JTAG will be springing into action for April with the show TALL TALES: Mysteries, Myths & Sensational Sightings. As the title suggests, there’ll be an offbeat, amazing array of artwork focusing on visual storytelling—of course, with a distinctly high-desert twist!
Curated by assemblage artist Kat Johnson, the exhibit features favorite local artists including Dianne Bennett—who has shown her fantastical road-sign re-envisionings extensively throughout the Southwest—and Suzanne Ross, whose imaginative, playful work has long charmed our Basin. Also featured are inimitable outsider paintings from Teresa Watson, sculptures from our own “Iron Man” Eric Banas, and always lively and insightful 3D pieces from Rik Livingston. Ms. Johnson will be showing her own “cabinets of curiosity” that weave their own mysterious stories. Plus special guest Jim Kopp of Caspar Wyoming offers wonderfully off-the-wall folk art.
